I gave away the news in the headline, and I’m not sure if this picture has anything to do with the album art, but Gotee Records announced that the New Relient K will indeed be out October 6th!

You will probably be hearing a lot about these ladies from New Mexico in the near future, read on to see what they have to say about signing with Tooth & Nail Records, touring, their time at Cornerstone, their plans for recording and more!  I present to you, Poema

CMZFirst of all, congratulations on signing with Tooth & Nail.  How did this come about?  Was it a long process or did it just come out of nowhere?

Elle: We have always been playing music cause we’ve grown up in a musical family, but this past year and a half, we got really inspired (mostly by listening to kids that write music; Jonas Brothers, Taylor swift, etc.) and we started to write music!  It wasn’t succesful at first but after a while, the songs started getting better.
Shealeen: We met a tooth and nail A&R on a mini tour in November, he loved our music and he set up a showcase for us in january… it all started then.

I really, really love the artwork for the last couple of Blood & Ink Records releases, The Red Baron and now this, Venia.

Pre-Orders for the CD & T-Shirt can be found here.  There’s also options for just the CD or a combo pack with a poster.

Pre-Orders are now available for Stephen Christian’s Anchor & Braille album, “Felt”.  $12 for the CD, $25 for the Cd and a T-Shirt.

You can listen to Paramore’s new single, Ignorance at their website.  This excites me even more about “Brand New Eyes”

Speaking of BNE, you can pre-order starting tomorrow!

Unless I change my mind over the course of the next three weeks or so, this is going to be the album cover for our punk rock compilation, which will feature a variety of Christian pop punk, hardcore punk, post punk and punk rock bands across the globe all for FREE!.  Thanks to all the bands that are helping out with this compilation, I’ve heard nothing but good songs coming in so far!  This will be available on this site for free download in late July.  Tell your friends about this if they like any kind of punk rock, you might find your next favorite indie band!

Not really.  I really enjoy other, very similar blogs and zines to Christian Music Zine.  There are several talented bloggers/music fans out there that I’d like to share with all of you.

1.  Indie Vision Music – This site is probably the reason I do what I do (not to mention I also write over there)

2. Jesus Freak Hideout – Probably the longest standing and most influential online only zine

3. The Free Christian Music Blog – Matt is always scouring the globe for free music and does a pretty great job with it, though I do support supporting artists too

4. The Christian Manifesto – Though I rarely agree with their musical opinions, they cover a lot of other stuff as well, C. E. Moore is a reading maniac and I wouldn’t even know books existed if it weren’t for him.

5. Decapolis - Conrad used to play in Ghoti Hook, now he occasionally writes something funny and music related

6. ONE21 - Though their strong suit is probably following American Idol Christian contestants, they keep up with the latest releases as well

7. The Album Project – Tyler (different one) seems to have a new artist to look into EVERY day

8. Soul-Audio – They seem to cover everything that comes their way and have at least a couple of talented writers

9. drivebyMEDIA - Their title is apt, as they seem to just drop something cool and then leave

10. insideREVOLUTION - The main thing I see on there is that they tend to have album covers before anyone else, but they also cover a lot of ground on new releases such as tracklistings and such

11. NewReleaseTuesday – This one is a bit hard for me to read, but I am sure a lot of people enjoy it, they have a plethora of information

A couple more sites that cover secular and Christian artists that I find helpful…

Absolutepunk - Everyone should already know about them, they cover everything scene

Under The Gun Review – My main man James has quickly taken this blog to upstream success and has some crazy connections, he’s going big time I think.

Driven Far Off – I have to wade through more stuff on this to get something I care about, but it is still a pretty good site

So thanks to all the fellow zinesters out there, let’s do this party right!

We are now compiling a compilation of punk bands (everything from pop punk to hardcore punk) for what is tentatively titled “Punk Rock Life” Vol. 1, featuring independent Christian punk bands.  If you know of any such bands that I may have missed while scouring the globe, please list them below or email me at christianmusiczine@gmail.com  I’ve already received great response and am really looking forward to bringing this to all of you!

Thanks!

So…Ignore that post about the Almost’s artwork…it was not correct…and it should have been obvious to me, but I am dumb sometimes. Especially on Fridays. I will try to make it up to ya’all by posting something about the switchfoot show I was at earlier today…like…in the next day or two. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
