9 Questions With All The Day Holiday

all the day holiday

all the day holiday

What is your name, your band name, and what do you do in the band?

-My name is David, and I play bass guitar in the band All the Day Holiday.

What have you been up to lately, anything new to look out for?

-I personally just started a new job at Starbucks, haha. But band news is that we just recorded a full length album that we’ll be releasing in early 2009. So you can “look out” for that.

If you are on tour, how is it going? If not, what is your excuse?

-Last week we just got off of a 17 day tour with the bands My Epic and So Long Forgotten. All of the people in those bands (and Elbon) are incredible people who we grew very close to over the course of the tour. And the shows were extremely beneficial as well. So between the fellowship and business we received, it was a very successful tour.

What direction do you see the band taking in the future?

-Of course it would be nice to make a lot of money and have everyone love us. I think that is what anyone would want. But I personally can’t see what the future holds. Two years ago I wouldn’t have been able to predict our present position. The people we’ve gotten to know, and places we’ve traveled to meet those people, are such blessings in all four of our lives. But to answer the question: (where do I see the future of All the Day Holiday) Wherever God has it. Whatever God has us doing in the future will be alright with us, I’m sure of that. Because I’ve been in the place where I’m looking at the future, questioning God’s planning, and seeing ‘what’s to come’ as grim, before, and then after the feeling has passed I see how small my fear was, and how unnecessary it was. (an English teacher might kill me for that sentance.)

What or who inspires you when writing your music?

-Whatever is huge in our lives at the moment. Right now I’m really into 70′s Rock ‘n Roll, Mark listens to Vampire weekend (just to give you an idea of diverse inspiration within). And lyrically we are inspired by creation around us, and our awe with it. But mostly we are inspired by the idea of colonizing the moon. It drives us to be honest. ;)

Do you have a favorite show that you have played? Can you tell us about it?

-My favorite show.. Well, there are shows where we have great chemistry with one another musically, and that is always a blast. But I think the most euphoric shows shows are the ones in front of 30,000 people that we play on the weekends… .

We all know that bands like to prank each other, are there any good ones that you can share with us that either you have pulled or that have been pulled on you?

-(everyone in the band thinks that I I’m 20 years old, but I’m really just 16 and want to be on the road with a band)

CMZ is a Christian faith based music zine, is there anything that we can pray for you as a band?

-Pray that God can guide us, and that we will be open to his guidance. Thanks so much!
