We Shot The Moon – A Silver Lining

We Shot The Moon – A Silver Lining – Afternoon Records – Released Digitally 10/12/09 – Reviewed By Tyler Hess

Now THIS is more like it.  As much as I enjoyed We Shot The Moon’s debut full length, Fear and Love, something in a lot of us were hoping for something a little bit more.  By something more, of course, I mean that we wanted something a little bit more like lead singer’s former band Waking Ashland might have produced.  When I read him saying somewhere that he was hoping that they would take things in that direction, I was one part hopeful, the bigger part skeptical.  Skepticism, you have met your match.  A Silver Lining is a tight, fun, all around enjoyable album of indie pop rock that will hopefully take their status up a few notches.

To tell you the truth, I’d been waiting for this album for so long that I kind of lost interest by the time it came around.  After listening to songs that are legit hits like “The Brightside”, “A Silver Lining” and “Miracle”, it kind makes me wonder why I would ever do this to myself.  There truly isn’t a bad song among the bunch, which are definitely on the side of hopeful and are never short on genuine thoughtfulness.  If there were ever a sleeper hit album this year, this would be the one to pick up.
