BarlowGirl Announces Band Retirement!

BarlowGirl

Wow, what a week. BarlowGirl has just made the announcement that the Lord is leading them into new things and BarlowGirl is retiring as a band, check out the announcement they made on their website:

To our amazing friends and fans,

This has truly been an interesting year for the three of us. We have spent most of the last three years writing songs and searching for inspiration. As a part of that season, we’ve also been seeking direction and a new plan for what God has for our lives. In the midst of this journey our songwriting times turned less and less into songwriting and more and more into God speaking to us about His new plans for us. And the outcome is that God is gently leading us in a new direction. The three of us really feel, and all agree, that the Lord is leading us to make a huge change in our lives and we want you to be the first to know about it.

After much prayer and counsel we have decided that we are retiring the band BarlowGirl. We don’t know what God has in store for us…He hasn’t revealed that yet. But in all this we know — He is guiding us to move forward in our destinies and He is faithful no matter what! We are so excited for this new season because we serve an amazing God.

We want to thank you all for your support over the last 10 years. We are truly grateful for this part of our journey with you. We are not sure where our path will lead from here but these last 10 years have been sweet ones that we will never forget. Thank you all for being a huge part of our lives. We will miss you all.

We have decided that our final appearance as BarlowGirl needs to be shared with all of you! So we would love for you to be part of our last live web chat. We will be playing some songs acoustically and want you to conduct our final interview. We would love for you to join us!

Much Love,
Alyssa, Becca, & Lauren

  1. An Interesting week indeed. First Lacey leaves Flyleaf, and now Barlowgrill leaving. Though I’ve never been on the road it saddens me to see so mandy bands hand it up recently. It’s only 10 years.

  2. And another one bites the dust.

  3. My wife is going to be even more upset now, her 2nd favorite band gone….

  4. Yikes… quite a week indeed…. Although, I have to say I haven’t bought anything from them since “Another Journal Entry” back in 2005, still sad to see a great group go away.

  5. I can’t say its a huge surprise to me. I had not heard of any new music from them in a long time. I liked some of their music, but can’t say they will leave a crater in my life.

  6. This is a very sad day, and I’ll definitely be praying for each one of Alyssa, Lauren and Rebecca, that they have an amazing future and that God will guide their steps in whatever they choose to do!

But, is it cruel or insensitive of me to hope (and this is if they don’t reunite someday, which I ultimately hope and pray for, if it is God’s will!), that at least one of them joins Superchick (who recently has had some members leave)? I don’t know. sounds insensitive to me, but that is what’s currently going through my mind right now…

  7. Definitely going to miss their presence in the music industry. I was hoping that they’ll do a new album, and this is a pretty sad day. Ah well, looking forward to hearing ‘Hope Will Lead Us On’. I’ll definitely be praying for these three sisters and hope that their future will be great!

  8. My wife circa 2008 would be crushed.

  9. Aw…bummer one of the only CCM bands/artists I like

  10. The idea of one of Barlowgirl joining Superchicken is actually a really cool idea… Although, haven’t one of the guys from Superchicken jumped in with Audio Adrenaline? Maybe someone leftover from Pillar could fill that spot?

    • yeah, Dave Ghazarian has joined Audio Adrenaline. Even if someone from pillar joins superchick, that still leaves one more spot (cause Melissa Brock left as well earlier this year).
