Christian Music Zine Layout Change!

Christian Music Zine Layout Change!

CMZ

Hello friends!

Notice anything…different…lately?

For those of you who are regulars or at least come around from time to time, you may have noticed that there has been a major change in our layout and you may have wondered why the change?!?

It’s really pretty simple: as much as I liked our old layout, I have obtained one of WordPress’s premium, top of the line layouts called Standard Theme.

There’s a lot of blogger lingo that I’ll keep you from having to read, but I’ll put it this way: Standard Theme is a much faster and sleeker theme with many benefits that may or may not be obvious to the naked eye.

I know it’s always tough to adjust to a new layout, but over time I believe that this new layout is going to be much better for everyone and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Let us know what you think in the comments or talk to us over on our twitter page!

Thank you all for reading and being part of the Christian Music Zine community!

  1. Its a little confusing at first but I got it now :)

  2. I think I’ve gotten used to the layout already! I’ve even posted something! http://christianmusiczine.com/jeff-deyo-moving-mountains-official-music-video/

  3. I don’t mind the new layout, but it’s seems a bit more “time wasting” as you have to scroll more because the pictures are soo much bigger. Not a huge deal, but personally don’t see it as an improvement…

    • I understand the scrolling issue might be a little bit of a drawback, but I think overall the change was necessary :) load times are much faster and I think the posts are easier on the eyes. sometimes there’s a give and take and you can’t have everything you want on one layout (or maybe ya can and I’m just not a wordpress grand master haha). Thanks for reading and being active on CMZ, hopefully we all get used to the change sooner than later :)

      • I think it looks pretty cool. Yes it is harder to see all the posts cause you have to scroll, but then everything looks bigger and clearer!
By the way Tyler, are you or anyone else going to write a review on The Classic Crime’s “Phoenix” album soon?

Anybody else still having trouble with Firefox? The pictures are completely gone in some cases, in others there is a yellow box. I’ve disabled Adblock on christianmusiczine.com, but it doesn’t make any difference. I wonder how many people come here, have the same problem, and never return.

And yes Tyler, I know you prefer Chrome, but it’s actually slower than Firefox in my case. And Chrome doesn’t handle “open all in tabs” as well as Firefox, a feature that I use frequently.

    • hey Keith…I tried in firefox and it seems fine to me…but I am on a mac, are you on a pc? have you tried clearing out your browsing data or anything like that? is it a problem you had before the layout change or just after? can you send me a screenshot? christianmusiczine@gmail.com i’ll try to fix what i can, but everything looks fine to me in chrome, firefox and safari

PC. The problem started with the old layout. I was hoping it would clear up with the revisions, but no such luck. Screenshots coming via email. Thanks Tyler!

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and now CMZ is showing up fine. No idea how things got corrupted, but it’s good now. Even have Adblock and K9 up and running and no problems. Funny, whatever happened only affected CMZ. Praise God for blessings great and small!

  5. I’m only going to say that while I don’t mind the change as a whole, I don’t like that the recent comments show up as partial comments, rather than saying which story they are in. That kind of makes knowing when a topic I was talking in has new comments.

    • I will take that into consideration, especially since I agree. What we have is what came w/ the theme. I didn’t really like the one we had before either. I like what indievisionmusic has but i don’t know which plugin they use or if they made their own somehow. there’s always the “notify me of follow up comments by email” option, but I don’t think most people like that option, so I’ll see what I can do.

EDIT: I put up the old widget for this…it actually looks much better in this theme than it did the old one, hope that helps :)

  6. I know this is extremely off topic but I thought you’d like to know that TNN records is announcing that they will be adding The Wedding to their artist roster next week. http://www.toothandnail.com/blog/2012/08/ask-tooth-nail-are-there-plans-to-keep-signing-bands/
