YES YES YES!!!! Anberlin has been my absolute favorite band since 2007 and this song only reaffirms my love for them and then some. It’s that old energy we’ve been missing, but it’s still clearly a progression from Dark. Stephen Christian’s vocals gave me chills in a way they haven’t since “(*Fin)”. Anyone else think this is as amazing as I do or am I fanboying??

good thing for me i have the self control to not watch that video. i once watched two minutes of that show on netflix and i had to make sure that i had not been drugged

Agree 100% Lucas. As much as I enjoyed DITWLITP, it lacked a certain magnetism that they seemed to achieve in their previous work (for me, anyways). “Self-Starter” just kicks it back into high gear, and as you said, brings back the energy that I missed a little last time around. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed DITWLITP very much, but it didn’t keep me listening over and over and over until it was worn out. Maybe because it was a big musical change. “Self-Starter” has pumped me up even more for Vital!

For me, Anberlin is one of those bands that have songs on every album that I absolutely love, but also some that are forgettable. This one goes in the first category.
